In the busy area of West Auckland we have new owners in husband and wife Scott Duncan and Melinda Gardner. Scott has joined the G.J. family after being involved in the building industry for many years most recently as CEO of ITM, one of our largest merchant suppliers and prior to that he has had 13 years with Fletcher Building in various General Manager roles.
Melinda comes from a background in public health and project management. For 10 years she has worked with multiple stakeholders across different District Health Boards to project manage new initiatives and programmes.
They have taken over the West Auckland franchise from Tony Houston and Robyn Neil who ran the franchise since 2009 and also owned the North Shore franchise until 2016. Tony will continue to be involved with land development in Hobsonville and will work with our West Auckland team to help build the homes.
When the opportunity for Scott and Melinda to own the West Auckland G.J. Gardner franchise arose they could see the potential to use many of their combined skills acquired during their working careers.
Both Melinda and Scott wanted to own their own business and saw the G.J. Gardner model as the optimal way of achieving this. "We are really excited to join such a recognised and trusted brand. We value not just the having the G.J. Gardner brand behind us but also the support of the franchise system, G.J. Gardner team and other G.J. Gardner franchisees. We're also delighted to acquire the West Auckland franchise - it's a great team, operating in a great market and we are looking forward to building on the legacy Tony and Robyn have created” says Scott.
Melinda and Scott have two active kiwi kids, Emmeline (13) and Charlie (11). Outside of work, Melinda enjoys family time, tennis, biking, reading and travel while Scott likes to get the occasional surf, ski or fishing trip in every now and then.
